Winter, Winter,
coming near,

Snow is in the air.

Dew drops floating
to the ground,

chilling winds arrive.

winter, winter,

just around the corner....

then........

Lily [Afterward]

Lily was at home at last. With her new owner, Mrs. Teanise, Lily was as happy as ever, and the best part was that she had found both her brothers!!! They had somehow survived the Sabertons fire, and were happily living with Mrs. Teanise and Lily. That is what I call a happy ending!!!!

Lily [cont] chapter 10 Home At Last

Lily walked away from the place her mother had been with a heavy heart. Just as she was about to burst into tears, another shot sounded, and she fell to ground. Five minutes later, Lily opened her eyes again. She could hear footsteps coming closer and closer... then she fainted dead away.

Lily woke up and stared right into the face of a old woman. '' Oh, thank god you're okay. I was so worried... never mind that now. I'll go get you some food. " Lily looked around her in astonishment. Was she dreaming? Or was she really home at last? But Lily shook her and laughed when she saw the food. WHAT DID IT MATTER WHEN YOU GET GOOD FOOD? Anyways, and this time she was sure of it, she was home at last!!!!

Lily [cont] chapter 9 Shot

Lily woke up to see the shadow of her mother coming closer and closer. Oh, good! thought Lily. Shes coming home! Lily sat patiently, watching Tessie. Suddenly, a noise as loud as thunder rang out. Tessie fell to the ground, and Lily gasped. A huge man stepped out from behind a tree and grabbed Tessie around the neck. The Man had a shotgun still smoking in his hands. Lily wondered what was going to happen to Tessie, as the man carried her away. Lily hurried to where the man had left, but he was gone, and Tessie was gone forever.

Lily [cont] chapter 8 The story

Tessie began to tell the story of why she had left Lily all alone in the woods for so long :

" I knew of a dump where we could get lots of food, so I went to get us some dinner, but half-way there, I got caught by some men in a big blue truck. They were dog catchers, and I want you to watch out for them, okay? They're very close by. They brought me and some other dogs to a room with lots of cages. The next day, someone came to adopt me, but as soon as I was out of the room, they called it the pound, I ran away. When I couldn't find you, I got desperate and decided to live at the dump. I was just comeing here for a walk when I happened to find you. "

Lily told her mom everything that happened to her. Tessy told Lily to stay, then went back to the dump to get more food. Lily hoped that this time she'll manage to come back.

Lily [cont] chapter 7 Tessy

Lily was near death, not being able to move herself. She had fallen into a ditch, river and trap the past two days, plus hadn't eaten a bite. Lily was desperate. Just as she was about to faint, a brown and white colored dog ran over to her, sniffing at her and barking excitedly. Lily couldn't see clearly, but she knew right away who it was. It was Tessie!!! Lily opened her mouth to bark, but she was to weak. Seeing how hungry and thirsty Lily was, Tessie pushed a wiener into Lily's mouth. Lily gulped the food down gratefully, then fainted dead away.

The next morning when Lily woke up, their was another wiener next to her and a broken jug of water. Lily hurriedly ate up all her food, then looked around for Tessie. Tessie was eating her own wiener under a big apple tree that Lily hadn't noticed before. Tessie smiled at Lily and said, " Want a apple? " Lily nodded eagerly, watching as Tessie leaped up and grabbed a apple. Lily gobbled down the apple, then asked Tessie why she never came back. Tessy smiled and the story began.

Lily [cont] chapter 6 The Fight

Lily ducked behind a tree branch and watched as the two wolves backed Penquilla down. The fight had been going on for about 30 minutes already, and it wasn't going well for Penquilla. Penquilla suddenly jumped up and attacked one of the wolves. She grabbed him by the neck and wrestled him up the mountain, then she pushed him down with a mighty growl, and leaped up, howling fiercely. The other wolf took that moment to attack. He jumped into Penquilla and watched as she tumbled ten feet down, struggling to stop herself, then finally fall to the ground. When he saw that she was dead, he laughed loudly and cried out, " I'm the new leader! " Just then he saw that the other wolf, his partner, was still just barely alive, and he sneered and said, " Lets go up the mountain. " Then when he saw that the other wolves were heading up the mountain and couldn't see him, he leaped onto his partner and killed him. Lily gasped and the wolf looked up, smirking. " Oh, look! " He cried out to his pack. " Its the little lady Penquilla picked up. '' All the wolves looked at Lily and grinned slyly. Lily turned and hurried away, but she didn't get far. The wolf leader screamed out, " Wait, you MUTT! I didn't say you could go yet. You have been rewarded to be one of our foods tonight, alone with Penquilla and my dear partner here. Then we'll go catch as many rabbits as we can, a few deer, some moose, and a whole bunch of goats! We'll steal the farmers pigs and even the cows and chickens! Then we'll take all the food up to the tip of the mountain and have a feast! Let the fun and games begin!!! "
Everyone cheered. They didn't even realize they couldn't carry all the food up the mountain, but Lily didn't care. She shot off like a rocket, with no one noticing her at all.

Lily [cont] chapter 5 In Danger

Lily was now a member of the wolf pack, but if she had known what dangers they would have to face, she would have said no. Penquilla and her pack led Lily through the forest, around towns, through more forests, and finally to the bottom of a snowy mountain. The journey had taken three days, and the whole pack were grumpy with hunger. The worst was Lily. She had fainted ten times already, and couldn't go on much longer. Now the pack and Penquilla were making her climb up the mountain with them. " We'll find food up there. " Penquilla grunted as she struggled to get up onto a high ledge. " Delicious mountain goats. '' Lily was aghast. " You mean we have to hunt!? " She cried. Penquilla grinned. "Of course! Come on already!!! " Lily scurried up as high as she could, then she looked down the mountain. " Are you sure this is safe? " she whimpered. Penquilla laughed. " If you can't climb up this little hill, then you're not fit even to be a mouse, you mutt!!! " Lily started to cry. '' But its not a little hill! Its millions of feet high! " Penquilla ignored Lily. As Lily started to turn back, she tumbled into a big rock. Penquilla gave a dark, cruel laugh. Some of the wolves started to nip at Lily. Wincing in pain, Lily managed to sit up. " Get going, or we'll kill you, " Penquilla growled, reminding Lily of the doberman in the hut. Lily steadied herself. She was only a few feet off the ground. She could leave. Lily slowly turned to go, but Penquilla caught Lily and bit her on her back leg. '' No one leaves the pack! " she roared, but then she grinned. "Change of direction. We're going into the forest. I feel like getting some deer and rabbits. Maybe a moose would be good, too. " The wolves all growled and complained, but Penquilla won't take no for a answer. "I can do with a wolf meal, too. " she added. The wolves quieted down, all except two. Grinning, they said in raspy voices, " Bring it on. "

Lily [cont] chapter 4 Penquilla

Lily woke up with a start. She thought she had heard a wolf howling. Lily sat up and looked around her.

" WHERE AM I? "

she cried out in alarm. Lily was in a dark forest filled with wild animals. Lily was no longer in Samoyed mansion. She felt lost and lonely and wondered what to do next. Lily sat there thinking for almost an hour when she suddenly realized that Samoyed mansion had to have been a dream. Just as Lily was about to go look for food, she heard the howling of wolves again. Lily couldn't help herself. She sat up tall and howled up at the night sky.


" AWOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!!!! "

The sound traveled long and far. When it ended, Lily gasped in shock. Was that me!? she wondered. could I have really howled like that? Lily sat still for a minute, then went back to sleep. The howling of the wolves went on and on. Hours passed. Lily was awakened by something pouncing on her. Remembering her brothers, Lily pounced back, but a bite on her back made lassie open her eyes. In front of her stood wolves, a whole pack. The leader of the pack was, surprisingly, a girl. Stepping up, she smiled and said, " I'm penguilla. Welcome to my pack. ''

Lily [cont] chapter 3 Alone In Samoyed Mansion

Alone in Samoyed mansion, Lily searched every room she could find. Every Samoyed she met
stared at her. On the top floor, a large Samoyed was guarding the door. He grinned, and said, ''your mother is a collie, right? '' "Yes, " answered Lily. The Samoyed opened the door. A elegant and old Samoyed stepped out. She smiled down at Lily. " You will find a surprise inside. " The Samoyed's stepped aside and Lily could see a light blue room. " Thank you, '' Lily said with a sigh. Its not much of a surprise, she thought. Suddenly, a blur of brown and white shot out of the door. Lily gasped in astonishment. It was a beautiful dog. A collie. It was Tessie! Lily started barking with joy, but when she looked up, she saw that it wasn't her mother. The collie smiled comfortingly and whispered, " Go in. You look tired. Go to sleep." Turning, she and the other two Samoyed's walked away, leaving Lily all alone again.

Lily [cont] chapter 2 Lily's new home

Sitting silently in the snow, Lily wondered what to do. Before she knew it, she was fast asleep.

Opening her eyes, Lily stared into the darkness of a wooden hut filled with dirt, fur, rocks and other dogs.She wondered how she got there. A broken rocking chair lay in a dark corner. Big, scary dogs looked down at Lily,growling. Lily shuddered, then backed away. Beside the rocking chair, a big doberman leaped up. "If you want to live, then run away, RUNT!" it growled darkly. Without looking back, Lily ran. She didn't care how she got there anymore, she just wanted to leave. Behind her she heard the laughter of the other dogs. When Lily finally did look back, she saw a beautiful Samoyed smiling pleasantly at her. "Hello, are you lost? I saw you running, so I followed you! We ran a long way!"The Samoyed said. Lily looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings in surprise. she really was lost. "Shouldn't you be going back to your owners?" Lily asked. "Owners? I don't have any owners. " The Samoyed replied. "I run free." The Samoyed gave a secretive grin. "well, I'm sort of like the owner.I used to have a owner who breeded Samoyed's, but when he died, all the Samoyed's he breeded escaped. Sense I wasn't his breeder dog, I was his pet, I'm now the leader of the pack of Samoyed's. We all live in a abandoned mansion. Would you like to come live with me and all my Samoyed friends at the mansion? my names Silver, by the way. " Lily smiled and nodded, happy to have found a friend at last. "and my names Lily " Lily said happily. Two hours later, they arrived outside a big Mansion. Two Samoyed's stood guard at the door. "Hello, Princess Silver!" They chanted, Silver laughed, "You can't have to call me princess! Silver would be good. Hello, Max and Prince!" silver turned to Lily. "These two are new Samoyed's we found." Just then, two Samoyed's came out. The first one sneered when she saw Lily. " Another Mutt?" She asked. Then she walked away, laughing. The second Samoyed came running after the first. "Wait, star!" She cried, "Play with me!" The second one was just a pup. Lily smiled. Silver sighed. "Star is a threat to us all. Sparkle, the pup, is always in danger of star. Star always makes sparkle do stuff that will get her in trouble. And sparkle doesn't know any better. I'd better go after them. And Silver raced off, forgetting all about Lily.

Lily

It was cold in the Saberton's barn. Tessie, a collie, was giving birth to puppies. That night was the coldest that winter in Bennettsville. Tessie's puppies, two males and one female, were named Flash, Spike and Lily.

The Saberton's had decided to sell the puppies for money, because they were very poor.

A month later, the day before the puppies were to be sold, a big fire burned down the Saberton's house. Everyone died except for Lily and her mother.

Tessie brought Lily into the dark, cold forest surrounding the Saberton's house on three sides. she told lassie to stay, and then hurried off. She never returned. Lily stayed till she nearly froze, then she left. she hadn't eaten for two days and was starving. WOULD SHE MAKE IT?
